1994 – Where it all began
On 28 September 1994, VIP Fastening Systems (VIP) was established. Sam, then a seasoned carpenter and spec builder, first came to VIP as a customer. That connection soon grew into a collaboration that combined on-site know-how with product expertise. It was the beginning of a partnership that would shape our future.

1995 – Exploring new horizons
On 1 September 1995, Sam launched Onsite Fastenings & Timber. Partnering with VIP, he began supplying trades directly on building sites. This venture was the first step toward what would one day become our family business.
1996 – Taking a bigger role
Seeing the potential to grow, Sam became a shareholder and director of VIP on 16 July 1996. This move strengthened our connection to the company and brought our trusted customer base fully into the fold.
1999 – Involving the next generation
Family has always been at the heart of what we do. Sam’s two daughters, Sally and Jill, began helping out in the business, starting with warehouse jobs like boxing screws. They did not know it then, but they were building the foundation for their own leadership journey.
2005 – Room to grow
With our original warehouse overflowing, we moved to a larger facility on Mavis Street, Revesby. The extra space allowed for bigger operations, better service and new possibilities.
2007 – Joining forces
In 2007, we joined the CSS buying group. This gave us the buying power and industry connections to compete with the biggest names in the market.
2017 – A new chapter
On 20 February 2017, Sam became the sole owner of VIP. That same year, Sally and Jill left their corporate careers to join full time, combining business growth with family legacy in a fresh era of leadership.

2018 – All hands on deck
We embraced automation with the implementation of Netsuite. Over the Christmas shutdown, the whole family worked in the warehouse to barcode and count tens of thousands of products. It was a true team effort that reflected our commitment to each other and to our customers.
2019 – Becoming yousta
On 29 July 2019, we rebranded as yousta. This put “you” at the centre while honouring our family name. It was a fresh look that reflected who we are and where we are headed.
2020 – Welcoming the next generation
In September 2020 and January 2021, we welcomed Sally’s son Byron and Jill’s son Cooper to the family. Sam became “SamPop”, balancing grandparent life with running the business and still finding time for a round of golf.
2022 – Our family grows again
In September 2022, Sally’s daughter Willow arrived, followed by Jill’s daughter Ellie in June 2023. With four grandchildren, the next generation of the yousta family was complete.
2024 – Celebrating 30 years
From a small start in 1994 to a thriving, family-run business today, we are proud to celebrate 30 years of dedication, innovation and relationships built on trust. As we look ahead, one thing remains certain, “you” will always be at the heart of yousta.
